I’m Karen Woods and I can help you make the complex simple.
I can use my experience in broadcast and print media to produce arresting audio and video, must-read brochures and memorable websites.
Let’s have a chat about what I can do…
Journalist and broadcaster Karen Woods has worked in news, communications and training for more than 30 years, covering everything from the death of Princess Diana and the aftermath of 9/11 to the 2010 student protests.
She has freelanced for the BBC, was Head of News at the launch of the successful regional radio station Wave 105, News Editor at Ocean FM and Power FM (now Heart and Capital FM) and worked in newspapers. She was a judge for the 2014 Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards and has twice been on the panel for the Sony Radio Awards.
Karen enjoys putting her communications skills and expertise to work for companies and organisations, simplifying complex matters for different audiences from cutting edge scientific research to public sector re-organisation.
She also can draw on the skills of other talented communications professionals in web design, video, photography etc as required.

I have hired Karen on several occasions at the University of Southampton. She has met and delivered on the brief issued to her, in addition to providing expert and friendly advice throughout the project development. Karen has delivered professional and concise alumni profiles, podcast interviews regarding graduate employment and has led student workshops on working with the media. Highly professional and highly recommended. Richard Carruthers, Former Project Manager, Career Destinations
Karen is a consummate professional in everything she does. She provided support to us at EEF South in producing media content including introducing us to podcasts.
She also helped many members of the team by delivering the often dreaded “media training”!
She made what can be a frightening and arduous task a pleasure by being very understanding and supportive whilst giving us knowledge and confidence on how to survive what can be a difficult requirement.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Karen to anyone needing professional journalistic support and advice on how to work with social and broadcast media.

Karen worked with senior management colleagues at Bournemouth University while I was Vice-Chancellor. She helped them develop their confidence in speaking to external audiences in addition to their communications and media interview skills. I was impressed by her friendly and supportive approach to my team, as well as her knowledge of current issues in higher education.
